The Gospel is easy to understand. Even a child can understand it, yet at the same time it has such profanity that even the sharpest mind cannot fully comprehend it. The word gospel comes from from the old english words ‘God’ and ‘spell’ meaning ‘good’ and news respectively, and it is translated from the greek word euangelion. The Gospel is from the God who made you and is a dynamic message to every single person, “it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16)
There are a few simple steps to understand the Gospel and I recommend going to a bible and checking everything written here to check it’s accuracy and also asking for wisdom to be given to you from God to guide you. Even if you do not believe that God exists then realise that God’s existence does not depend on you believing in His existence. He will exist regardless of your limited perspective, but He is fully able to reveal himself to you.
Firstly it important to believe that God exists. The bible teaches us that “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). This is not an unprovable or unknowable statement. The reality is that that there is a creator is obvious to everybody.
For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. (Romans 1:19-20)
Some people might be adamant that God’s existence is wishful thinking, just a myth or a primitive belief. This responses can be explained by a number factors:
Many people receive a secular education that is filled with pseudo-science, relativist and materialist thinking and revisionist history that leaves them with a diminished understanding of the facts of the world around them.
They could have received some trauma, like abuse received from a parent or even a religeous practitioner that could have caused them to suppress what they know of God’s existence by denying it or projecting a negative character onto God that does not conform with his character as a pretext for avoiding a relationship with him. They can even be held in fear by a cult, false religion or sub culture that scorns God and would reject, ridicule, harm or even kill them if they left the group.
They can be blinded from understanding the reasons for God’s existence and understanding the messages He has given to mankind because of the nature of reality is that there are people in there lives and unseen spiritual beings who are working to keep them from understanding them through lies and distortions of the truth and clouding their minds.
And they can deny God’s existence or the truth of the Gospel because they love the sin, or rebellion from God that they are living in. This might be theft, the love of money and power, sexual immorality, worshipping a false god or religion and idleness to seek after a relationship with the God who made them.
The bible teaches states that:
“For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.”
